Essential oils have been used for millennia, as early as 4,500BC where the ancient Egyptians embalmed their dead with resins and pure essences such as cedar, juniper & sandalwood.
This course gives you an introduction into the fascinating world of essential oils and their use. It includes both theory and some practical aspects of blending with essential oils. You will blend and take away with you a skin or body care product that has been formulated for a specific health or skin issue.
Upon completion of this course you will have an understanding of:
Minimum 12 essential oils covered in depth
Extraction methods
Hydrolats – aromatic hydrosols
Carrier oils, types, their properties, vitamin content
Professional blending techniqiues for different skin and body types
Working with a blending chart to formulate combinations
Practical blending for skincare, perfumes, bath products

Aromatherapy massage was first developed by a French therapist named Micheline Arcier in the early 1960s. The Aromatherapy massage technique utilises acupressure points, soft tissue manipulation, lymphatic drainage and energy balance. Your lecturer, Janet Newton, has been a practising Aromatherapist for the past 15 years and during this 2 day module, she will pass on valuable information so that you, as a professional, will be able to work confidently with essential oils in your massage or beauty practice. Treating your clients with Aromatherapy through massage is conducive to relaxing the nervous and muscular system, and with the help of the essential oils, it will relieve the pain caused by stress and strain on the body.
Upon completion of this course you will have an understanding of:
The appropriate equipment used for aromatherapy massage
Creating an aromatherapy environment, massage bed set up, draping, room
ambience
The effects of aromatherapy massage on the body
Professional blending techniqiues for different treatments and outcomes
Consulting your client for the use of aromatherapy
Contra-indications and considerations for aromatherapy massage
